Contest Rules:

  1. Eligible Fish: Striped Bass only.
  2. Catch Criteria:
    • The fish must be the largest by size, based on length.
    • Participants must measure their fish and take a photo with the fish fully in the frame.
    • The fish must be clearly visible in the photo, with both the head and tail in the frame.
    • Photos must be taken with a measuring tape or ruler visible in the shot to verify the length.
  3. Measuring Guidelines:
    • The fish must be measured from the tip of the nose (snout) to the tip of the tail (not the fork of the tail).
    • The fish must be placed flat on a measuring board or surface, ensuring it is fully stretched out.
    • The measuring tool (ruler or tape measure) must be clearly visible in the photo, with the measurement clearly visible and legible.
    • The fish must be aligned along the ruler/tape measure, with the tip of the nose touching the “0” mark and the tail extending to the correct measurement.
  4. Photo Submission:
    • Photos must be submitted via text message or email within 24 hours of catching the fish.
    • To submit, send the image along with the following details:
      • The participant’s name or registered boat name.
      • The length of the fish (visible on the measuring tool).
      • Date and time the photo was taken.
    • Photos must meet the following requirements:
      • The entire fish must be in the frame, ensuring both the head and tail are clearly visible.
      • The fish must be flat and in a natural position—avoid bending or curving the fish.
      • The measurement tape or ruler must be placed alongside the fish with the number on the ruler/tape clearly visible.
      • The photo must be taken in a well-lit area to avoid shadows and ensure clear visibility of both the fish and the measuring tool.
  5. Acceptable Measuring Tools:
    • A fish measuring board or tape measure.
    • A clear ruler with increments marked (preferably in inches or centimeters).
    • A soft tape measure if it’s rolled out and visibly straight.
  6. Verification of Size:
    • To ensure transparency and fairness, the contest organizers may request a follow-up image showing the fish from a different angle, if needed.
    • Any fish with unclear measurements or photos that don’t meet the contest requirements will be disqualified.
  7. Tie-breaker Procedure:
    • In the event of two or more fish measuring the same length, the first submitted fish (based on the timestamp) will take the higher place.
  8. Safety & Ethics:
    • Catch-and-Release: While the contest is focused on size, participants are encouraged to release the fish safely after measuring and photographing it.
    • Handling the Fish: Handle the fish gently to minimize stress and injury. Use wet hands or a wet cloth to avoid removing the fish’s protective slime layer.

Contest End Date:

  • May 31st, 2025
  • Winners will be announced on this date, along with a complimentary BBQ for all participants and guests.
